Presidents Tour 2015/6

Presidents Tour to Bournemouth

 14th to the 18rd of March 2016

The President of Middlesex County Indoor Bowling Association (2015/16) has pleasure in announcing the 2016 Tour:

A five day (four night) tour staying at the Whitehall Hotel (where the Outdoor County have previously stayed – with the only complaint being “too much food on my plate”!). Travel down on the morning of Monday 14th March with collection points at Arnos Grove, Century BC and Ashford BC, arriving for a buffet lunch prior to checking in and then relax before dinner in the evening. Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th will all consist of breakfast followed by some leisure time before leaving mid to late morning for a game of bowls returning to the Hotel in plenty of time for a bit of relaxation before dinner. Tuesday sees a game against Dorchester IBC and Wednesday against Bournemouth IBC. Thursday sees a game against a Dorset President’s Team at Moonfleet IBC (Weymouth). Entertainment will be provided on the Wednesday with a Gala Dinner on the Thursday night. If you wish to visit a local hostelry on Monday or Tuesday evening, our Resident Guru, Andy Knott, recommends the Goat and Tricycle (half a mile away). After breakfast on Friday 18th there will be time for a last bit of relaxation before making the return trip home getting back to London early afternoon.

The Whitehall Hotel is in an ideal location midway between the Bournemouth Square and Bournemouth Pier. Overlooking the Bournemouth Eye hot air balloon, the Hotel’s private gateway leads directly into Bournemouth’s award winning Lower Gardens. It is only a short walk to the major attractions in Bournemouth. Approximate walking times from The Whitehall Hotel are: 5-8 minutes to Bournemouth Pier and beach 3-5 minutes to nearest restaurants and bars 5-8 minutes to central Bournemouth pedestrianised shopping area. Access to the pier, the beach and the Pavilion are directly through Bournemouth Gardens, with no roads to cross!

In Exeter Park Road, at the entrance to the Hotel, is a free private car park. To the rear are the private garden and the Bournemouth Lower Gardens. Built in 1865, the Whitehall Hotel is one of Bournemouth’s most central hotels. The Hotel retains many of its period features. The Hotel is minutes away from the beach, the pier, theatres and shops with a lift to the upper floors.

There are two lounges, the Garden Lounge and the Large Lounge, a dining room, a function room and also a bar and sun terrace overlooking Bournemouth’s award winning Lower gardens. From the Hotel terrace you can walk down our steps into these beautiful gardens.

Dining Room:

The Hotel is committed to offering the highest quality traditional dishes using the best local, seasonal and fresh produce where possible. The Hotel is pleased to cater for any special diets and we will always be pleased to discuss our menu with you in advance. Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day and evening. At Breakfast the Hotel offers traditional service where you can choose from a simple bowl of cereal to a full English breakfast - a perfect start to the day! At Dinner the Hotel offers an excellent three course dinner menu with a varied choice for each course including vegetarian options. Dinner is followed by coffee served at your table or in the comfort of one of our lounges.

The Hotel has 46 bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, many with excellent garden views. All rooms have en-suite facilities. The Hotel is entirely non-smoking. The Whitehall Hotel has been extended over the years, so the bedrooms all vary quite a lot. There are family rooms, double rooms, twin bedded and single rooms. The Whitehall is very proud of the fact that the rooms are always scrupulously clean, and have dedicated housekeeping staff who work hard to maintain the Hotel’s high standards.

The cost will again be £300 and a deposit of £50 secures your place, please contact Andy Docker for details on 07976-815973 or e-mail at
